"This page is dedicated to Gail Reines"

Layla, came into my life through my Closest and Dearest friend in the World, Gail Reines. Gail and I shared a very special bond with each other our friendship our love for each other and Our Briards.  Gail was part of my family. A family I never had. This page is in Gail Reines memory. As she lives in my heart always. Layla & Gail are pictured with myself and the judge at her first show. For her first points!

Layla pictured under Breeder Mimi Long Winning her 12-15 month Sweepstakes class at the Michigan Ohio Briard Club. When Layla came into my life at the tender age of 8 weeks old was the first time I set eyes on her.  I was on a mission to go look at two female pups that the Late Rob Ferber and his wife Linda Wells had available to Gail and myself. One puppy they thought we might like and Gail  asked me to take a look which I of course would do. She also told me to use my judgement and pick the puppy I thought was best for us. Well I did, funny thing though it was not the puppy Rob or Linda though we would like.  So I got on the phone and of course Gail was not there and I left a message and told her that I thought the other puppy was for us.
When talking to Gail later on the phone that evening she agreed that the pup I chose would be the one we would want. The rest is history!  Layla continued on her winning streak and she finished her Championship in 3 countries. Canada, USA and last but not least was Gail's Dream of having a French Champion! Layla today is the only Briard in North American History to have a French Championship winning her first CAC at the French National de Elevage in 1996! Here Layla is pictured with Breeder Judge Dave Behren's and Myself going Winners Bitch at  the Supported Entry of the Michigan Ohio Briard Club, Detroit Kennel Club Cobo Hall Michigan! Mar/96!
Heading off to California was a last minute night before closing date decision! Gail and I communicated on the telephone and we made this decision quickly to get our entries in on time. Wow what a weekend. Layla was Best of Winners at the California Regional Specialty and saw her Half brother, Lestat go Reserve Winners as well the next day he went Best of Winners. These two dogs started their showing career together at the same show and finished at the same show. Pictured here is Gail, Layla, Judge Jimmy Mitchell and Myself. So many memories and very difficult to write to the world.
Here Layla, is pictured with Judge and former Handler the late James Bennett. Winning a Group 3rd in Canada. Gail was so thrilled that our Shelaylee Girl was winning on both sides of the border.  We were having a blast with this girl and much travelling together was done. We made many memories and had so many happy times together.

These were happy times for the four of us. Gail, Rob & Linda.  Layla, myself pictured with Breeder/Judge Madam Comby. Layla is pictured here winning an Award of Merit at the Briard Club of America's National Specialty!

This is a very dark picture of Layla. Pictured here at the Cobo Hall Show.  Winning a Group 3 under very heavy competition.  The day before she had just won the Michigan/Ohio Regional Specialty going Best Of Breed, with the largest at that time Regional ever.

Lestat & Layla pictured with Gail and myself. This was a big day for us.  Gail was home from the hospital just to come to the show while undergoing Chemo treatment. This pair were half brother and sister who started at their first show together and finished together pictured.  What a way to complete a family affair.

Layla, completed her French Championship in May of 1997! Winning her last CAC under Jackie Dillies.  Gail unfortunately could not be there to see her win this Championship like she had with all her others.  She was hospitalized undergoing a bone marrow transplant for Cancer.  When I called her at the hospital to let her know that it was done. She was so happy and so proud. Gail was the rational part of this team we had. I was lucky to have her for a Friend and Part of My Family.  Gail passed away July 14, 1998 with her husband , Brother and Myself by her side.  Layla, was retired and is now residing in the Sunny South where she is the only dog a wish that Gail always had for her. I was lucky to have Co-Owned this wonderful Girl with Gail and to have had the opportunity to finish her in 3 Countries. Gail's Memory lives on in my heart always. And Layla lives on in her daughter Meggie who now resides with me.
Gail I Miss You and Always Will.
Wish you were here! Until we meet Again!
Thanks for the Memories!
